Christening dress

Christening dress

This beautiful, traditional-style christening dress was a real challenge and delight to make.

The client had already had a christening dress made from her wedding dress for her own daughters, and now needed a second christening dress made from the remnants for the double christening of her two granddaughters.

There was limited fabric left, so it involved careful unpicking and reconstruction of panels with lace inserts, and the strategic use of remaining centre panels from the bodice of the original dress to make shaped details on the bonnet.

The dress was carefully constructed using ribbon ties threaded through channels around the chest and neck of the dress, together with the back of the bonnet so it could be adjustable for different sizes.

A true family heirloom!
