Rhian

Rhian had a last minute alteration requiring some creative thinking!

Rhian was 7 months pregnant when I met her and was getting married in a few weeks- she had a beautiful dress, shown in the second and third pictures below, which was already too tight from the baby bump. She also wanted to wear a bra with her dress, but this caused a problem with the open back.

She sourced a second dress on Vinted, which was used to create panels to insert at the sides of the dress.

The decorative epaulettes were adapted into a cape using more surplus fabric from the second dress. The cape was attached to the front strap points on the dress using covered buttons and loops, effectively hiding all bra straps.

Finally, a ribbon was stitched in place at the empire line, which could be tied at the back to adjust the fit around the 'bump' on the day.
